Farmers are key members of the robust supply chain that ensure food security, they are the producers of commodities which is either demanded as raw materials by the other stakeholders in the food supply chain. To better implement policies that will improve food security, the database of farmers is very important for adequate implementation strategy and outcome projections.

Producer Registry is one such technological intervention that assists various agencies and organisations in developing a database of all producers in their region of activity. It provides a reasonable projection of products for a season or a year based on who they are, what they produce, and how much they can produce.

This database which can communicate and integrate with other public databases such as land records, weather forecasts, and Agri Intelligence Systems can assist procurement agencies in estimating the requirements of the entire value chain, as well as various government agencies in having a validated database of producers who can participate in their various welfare programmes.
